I built this model of a 1947 Cape Cod house, produced by Levitt and Sons, for my final project for US History. It is built at 1/12th scale out of foam board, paper, and hot glue.

I filled it with different items in order to show different tensions of the 1950s, specifically consumerism and conformity, femininity, stability in the face of change, and counterculture. I placed everything inside of a simple and iconic suburban house. I also incorporated quotes from readings we did in class into each room to show how historians and others analyze the tensions of this era.
